Practice Areas - Administrative and Public Law
JW O’Donovan provides specialist and strategic
advice in administrative and public law, a growth area in the Irish
legal system. This field of law concerns the rules regulating the
organisation, functions and procedures of public authorities. It
affects not only government departments and local authorities but
other public bodies such as universities and trade unions.
We advise public and regulatory bodies and private
individuals on their powers, rights and obligations on issues ranging
from Public Private Partnership projects and tendering processes
to housing initiatives and environmental licensing. Our clients
operate in many different sectors. These include health, schools,
environment, accommodation, regeneration and urban development.
In planning matters, whether contentious or non-contentious,
we act for land owners, developers and third party objectors. Our
team has particular experience in advising in judicial review proceedings
concerning compulsory purchase and planning law and where applicable
will ensure our clients are properly aware of entitlements to State
compensation.
Where appropriate we will combine resources from
different departments in the firm to provide a multidisciplinary
approach to ensure the best results for our clients in a concise,
timely and tailored manner.
